I had the pleasure on Saturday of attending the Anglo-Welsh 6 Nations rugby match as guest of Bell and Clements. Anyone that knows me realises that I’m not a great follower of sport, but enjoy the atmosphere of an event. And this certainly was an event. I hadn’t understood that the rivalry between the two sides was such that after 118 meetings the scores were 57 wins apiece. My education on the intricacies of the game by the other guests was appreciated and made the made the day even more enjoyable, however I confess that much of the information given to me will not be retained.
Needless to say, it was a very pleasant day, good food; good company and good fun, topped off with a victory for the right team that even a slow train back to Waterloo crowded with sombre Welshman couldn’t spoil.

I became the first guest blogger on Reinsurance Magazine’s blog.re, run by Katherine Blackler. The blog focused on social media, prompted by the launch of Buzz the latest Facebook-competitor. This one, though, is a Google venture, linked into the Gmail platform, so it has a head start.
It’ll be interesting to see how it gets on…

We are exhibiting at the Insurance Day Tech Forum tomorrow. This is our first show since my appointment as Marketing Director and I’m keen for it to go well. I’d forgotten how much has to be done to get everything ready in time.
Our new partner, Northdoor, are also at the show - we are keen to get across the benefits of our end-to-end reinsurance solution combining their N-DEX suite inwards system with our GLOBAL XLPro outwards system.
I’m hopeful that our flash survey on cost reduction in the insurance market will be successful. Everyone that completes the survey will get a copy of the results - as well as a copy of our white paper on cost reduction that is currently in production. Exciting thought this is, I suspect the chance of winning a meal for two with wine at Marco Pierre White’s Steakhouse & Grill on Middlesex St may move the completion rates on a little more…
If you’re at the show pop over and say ‘hello’ - Stuart Shenton, our Sales Director, and I will be manning the stand.

Having come into the Total Objects with a background in banking and finance, it has been interesting to see that the London insurance market is still very much based upon personal contact, facilitated by the small size of the City, which helps to keep things ‘local’.
The Internet can also provide a space where companies and their employees can stay in contact with markets and their wider interest groups, and this new blog is designed to do this.
We will be blogging on the market and its systems, our work, our people and our interests. Most of us are new to this - we look forward to the adventure.
Peter Dunkley
Marketing Director
